- 1,649 kcal/day
How it works
Estimates Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) — calories your body burns at complete rest in 24 hours.
Who it's for: People building meal plans, dietitians estimating energy needs, and anyone starting a calorie-tracking program.
Uses the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, the formula most often cited in US clinical nutrition references.
Adjusts for sex: males add 5 kcal; females subtract 161 kcal after the base calculation.
Reports BMR in kcal/day — energy needed for breathing, circulation, and organ function only.
How to use
- Select Sex — male or female, which changes the formula constant.
- Enter Weight in pounds and Height in inches.
- Enter Age in years.
- Read BMR (kcal/day) — your resting daily calorie burn before any activity.
- Use this as the foundation for TDEE by multiplying by an activity factor.
- Do not eat below BMR for extended periods without medical supervision.
Good to know
- BMR is an estimate — thyroid disorders, pregnancy, and significant muscle mass can shift actual metabolism.
- If you lose weight, recalculate BMR periodically because it drops as body mass decreases.
