How it works
Calculate lumber volume in board feet — the standard US measure for dimensional lumber.
Who it's for: Carpenters, lumber buyers, and woodworkers pricing or ordering lumber.
Formula: (thickness × width × length) ÷ 12 with thickness and width in inches, length in feet.
Board feet measure nominal dimensions, not actual dressed size.
One board foot equals 144 cubic inches of wood.
How to use
- Enter Thickness in inches (nominal, e.g., 2 for a 2×6).
- Enter Width in inches.
- Enter Length in feet.
- Read Board feet for the volume.
