How it works
Estimate daily dry food portion in grams based on body weight and food calorie density.
Who it's for: Pet owners portioning kibble from label calorie information.
Formula: daily grams = (weight in kg × kcal/kg body weight) ÷ kcal/kg of food × 1000.
Accepts pet weight in pounds and converts internally.
Uses manufacturer kcal/kg from the food bag label.
How to use
- Enter Weight in lb.
- Enter kcal/kg of food from the packaging.
- Enter kcal/kg body weight — often ~70 for a moderately active adult dog.
- Read Food/day in grams.
Good to know
- Split the daily amount into 2–3 meals; puppies and highly active dogs need higher kcal/kg values.
